Report: The laptop in this case was stolen from a school in Saint Lucia. The Absolute Investigations team began monitoring activity on the device, and when several different users were identified, it was suggested that the wrong laptop had been reported stolen. Further investigation revealed that in fact the correct device had been identified as missing, but the suspected user had employed USB drives from multiple other students in an attempt to complete an assignment. System modifications noted on the report indicated the suspected user had no intention of returning the laptop and was working to erase identifying factors. Local authorities were then able to recover the stolen laptop from the suspected user’s residence.
