Report: The laptop in this case was mistakenly left on a plane and was not recovered by airline staff. Once the victim reported the device to Absolute, the Absolute Investigations team got right to work. The first connection to the Internet came 2 months later, and Absolute forensic tools revealed a suspected user employed by an aviation company. Unfortunately, the laptop ceased activity for many months after that. The next summer, it connected again and indicated the same user was in possession. Due to the persistence of the Absolute investigator, the suspected user revealed the laptop had been purchased from an unknown source and volunteered to surrender the device. It was then returned to the owner.
